Foreign youth got acquainted with Kazakh sports
A large-scale festive event dedicated to the National Sports Day was held at the Keremet Student Service Center of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The program included competitions in traditional sports and a special presentation of the national Games for international students "National Sport: Spirit and Strength".
The solemn part of the event was opened by Member of the Board – Vice Rector for Social Development of KazNU Bakhytzhan Omarov. In his speech, he stressed the importance of national sports in the education of young people, noting that such initiatives have a positive impact on the spiritual and physical development of the younger generation.
300 students took part in the event, organized by the Sports Club "袟袨袞" and the Department of physical education and sports of the University. The program included regional ties for traditional Kazakh games: tug of war (crossing the border), togyzkumalak, arm wrestling (arm wrestling), asyk ATU, Bestas and Lianga.
International students were particularly active. They not only got acquainted with the rules of the national games, but also were able to test their strength on the carpet, showing dexterity in asyk ata and team cohesion in tug of war. This format contributes to a deeper understanding of the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh people by foreign students and the strengthening of intercultural relations.
This initiative, timed to coincide with National Sports Day, is aimed not only at developing mass sports among young people, but also at preserving the national code. According to the results of the competitions, the winners were determined, who were awarded with special diplomas and memorable gifts.
