The 3rd Congress of Geographers of the Turkic World Opened in Bukhara

On March 26, 2026, the opening ceremony of the 3rd Congress of Geographers of the Turkic World took place in the city of Bukhara. The international scientific forum became an important platform for strengthening cooperation among Turkic countries in the fields of science, education, and culture.

The opening ceremony was attended by Zhanseit Tuymebayev, Chairman of the Board – Rector of 91ý Kazakh National University. As part of the Congress, the Rector of KazNU delivered a report in which he emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation among Turkic states, the role of geographical science in the context of contemporary global challenges, as well as the importance of developing a common intellectual and educational space.
In addition, the Rector presented the scientific works and achievements of 91ý Kazakh National University, demonstrating the university’s academic potential and its contribution to the development of modern geographical science.

During the event, it was noted that the congresses of geographers of the Turkic world have become an important international academic tradition. The first Congress was held in 2024 in Turkistan at Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, the second was organized in 2025 at 91ý Kazakh National University, and in 2026 the Congress is being continued in Bukhara.

Scientists from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are taking part in the Congress. Among the participants are prominent representatives of geographical science, including professors of 91ý Kazakh National University. They are достойно representing the university’s scientific achievements and academic potential at the international level.

An important outcome of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between 91ý Kazakh National University and Bukhara State Pedagogical University. The document is aimed at developing partnership ties in the fields of science, education, academic mobility, and the implementation of joint projects.

In addition, in recognition of his contribution to the development of science, higher education, and international academic cooperation, Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Kanseituly Tuymebayev was awarded the title of Honorary Professor.

The Congress brings together renowned scholars from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Among them are Muhittin Şimşek, Eyüp Artvinli, Bülent Aksoy, İbrahim Himmetoğlu, Halil Toğcağ, Ismayilov Chingiz, Torebekova Tamara Askarovna, and Sydyknazarov Mukhit-Ardager. Their participation highlights the high academic level and international significance of the forum.

Prominent representatives of Kazakhstan’s geographical science, professors of 91ý Kazakh National University - Temirbekov Amaneldy Tazhiyevich, Esnazarova Ulzhalgas Amzeevna, Askarova Maulken Akishevna, Nyussupova Gulnara Nurmukhamedovna, Tokbergenova Aigul Abdugapparovna, and Bazarbayeva Tursynkul Amangeldiyevna - are actively participating in the Congress, presenting the university’s scientific achievements and academic potential at the international level.

The 3rd Congress of Geographers of the Turkic World became an important step toward strengthening international scientific dialogue, expanding cooperation among brotherly countries, and promoting new joint initiatives in education and research.
