On March 7, a festive concert for international students was held at the Farabi Hub of 91ý Kazakh National University with the participation of the university leadership. The Chairman of the Board – Rector of the University took part in the event, highlighting the institution’s strong commitment to internationalization, academic integration, and cultural exchange.
Students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology actively participated in the event, ensuring broad representation of international students and demonstrating a high level of engagement in university life. In accordance with organizational requirements, student participation was coordinated in collaboration with academic advisors and responsible faculty staff, which enabled effective organization of attendance and the creation of a comfortable and inclusive environment for all participants.
Special attention was given to the participation of female students, who constituted a significant proportion of the attendees. This not only aligned with the organizational framework of the event but also symbolically reflected the values of International Women’s Day, emphasizing the important role of women in contemporary society. In Kazakhstan, women traditionally occupy a prominent position in social, educational, and scientific spheres, making substantial contributions to national development and the strengthening of intellectual potential.
The festive concert served as an important platform for intercultural dialogue, fostering friendship among students from different countries and contributing to the development of a unified educational environment. The programme featured creative performances showcasing the cultural diversity of the student body, as well as national traditions and unique characteristics of various countries. The atmosphere of openness and mutual respect facilitated a deeper understanding of cultural differences and promoted tolerance within the student community.
It is important to note that the celebration of International Women’s Day in Kazakhstan carries not only a ceremonial but also a strong value-based significance. The day symbolizes recognition of women’s achievements and their contributions to science, education, and public life, while also underscoring the importance of ensuring equal opportunities. Within the academic environment, such events contribute to fostering a culture of respect, support, and equal participation among all students.
The participation of faculty students in such initiatives directly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, it contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education), aimed at ensuring inclusive and equitable education; SDG 5 (Gender Equality), focused on empowering women and promoting equal rights; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which emphasizes strengthening international cooperation and intercultural engagement.
Moreover, engagement in cultural initiatives supports the development of students’ so-called “soft skills,” including communication, intercultural competence, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. These competencies are especially important in the context of globalization and increasing competition in both national and international labor markets.
Thus, the participation of students from the Faculty of Physics and Technology in the festive concert dedicated to International Women’s Day represents a meaningful contribution to the development of the university’s international environment, the strengthening of cultural dialogue, and the promotion of sustainable development values, while also confirming the high level of organizational and educational work carried out by the faculty with international students.
