Quality Education within the Framework of Sustainable Development Goals: A Mobile Photography Class Was Organized
One of the key priorities of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is SDG 4: Quality Education. This goal aims not only to improve the quality of education but also to develop competitive individuals equipped with modern skills and in high demand in the labor market. Within this framework, a special training session on mobile photography was organized. The main objective of the event was to equip participants with mobile photography skills that are highly востребованы in today’s digital environment, to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience, and to foster creative thinking among young people. Additionally, the session aimed to enhance digital literacy, visual communication competencies, and the ability to effectively utilize modern media tools in both professional and academic contexts.
During the session, the fundamental principles of mobile photography were thoroughly explained. Participants gained theoretical knowledge on composition, lighting techniques, visual aesthetics, shooting ethics, and strategies for creating engaging and high-quality content for social media platforms. Particular attention was given to contemporary trends in short-form video content (such as Reels and TikTok), storytelling techniques, audience engagement strategies, and algorithm-driven content distribution. The practical component of the session was designed in a hands-on format. Participants conducted their own shooting exercises, learned how to effectively use smartphone cameras, developed visual thinking, and acquired essential skills in content editing and post-production. The session also introduced popular mobile editing applications such as CapCut and InShot, focusing on color correction, sound design, and dynamic video composition. This practice-oriented approach significantly increased participant engagement and enabled them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
The event brought together not only students but also professionals from various fields, ensuring an interdisciplinary and inclusive learning environment. This mixed format expanded access to education, encouraged knowledge exchange, and demonstrated the versatility of mobile photography as a tool applicable in business, academia, media, and personal branding. By acquiring these skills, students gained the ability to build a personal brand, effectively present academic and social projects in a visual format, and actively engage in the digital media space. This contributes to enhancing their professional competitiveness and employability in the context of a rapidly evolving digital economy.
The educational event was organized by Associate Professor Zh.U. Kantarbayeva of the Department of religious studies and cultural studies at 91ý Kazakh national university and PhD doctoral student in Religious Studies Mollakanagat Abubakir. According to the organizers, such practice-oriented training sessions play a crucial role in developing relevant competencies, fostering creativity, and preparing young people for the challenges of the digital era.
Furthermore, the initiative reflects the principles of lifelong learning, emphasizing the continuous development of skills and knowledge beyond formal education. In this regard, mobile photography serves not only as a creative discipline but also as a practical инструмент профессионального роста и самореализации.
In conclusion, the mobile photography training session represents a significant contribution to the implementation of SDG 4 – Quality Education. Such practice-oriented educational formats not only enhance the overall quality of learning but also create new opportunities for participants’ professional and creative development. Expanding and institutionalizing similar initiatives within higher education systems can further strengthen the alignment between academic training and labor market demands.
