As part of their teaching practice on March 20, 2026, first-year doctoral students Ensep E., Talgatkyzy A., and Zhumataev E. held an educational event for first-year students majoring in Nanomaterials and Nanochemistry on the topic of "Peace, Justice, and Effective Institutions (SDG 16)." The event aimed to introduce students to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, discuss the importance of peace and justice, and foster students' civic responsibility. At the beginning of the event, students were presented with a situational question for discussion: "If humanity were given the opportunity to create a new, just world, what would it be like?" Each student expressed their opinion, and a rich and engaging discussion ensued. The doctoral students presented interactive test questions on the event's topic using slides. The students not only answered them but also justified their choices. In the next part of the educational lesson, the students were divided into three groups to discuss their vision for creating an ideal society. Each group chose a name for their society and developed five basic rules for creating a peaceful and just state. During the assignment, posters and markers were used to present their proposals. The groups defended their work and shared their ideas, and a discussion took place on the effectiveness of laws and the reasons for their lack of implementation. Students addressed issues such as corruption and conflict resolution, discussed the causes of conflicts, and ways to maintain peace. All responses were analyzed, and solutions were jointly explored. The discussions highlighted that peace and justice depend on the actions of each individual. Thus, the essence of the topic was explored and the key concepts of the human development theory (SDGs) were discussed. Such educational events help develop students' critical thinking skills, team spirit, and the ability to defend their point of view. The event was held at a high level – the students demonstrated active and engaged discussion of this issue of vital importance to all of humanity.
