A Scientific and Educational Seminar on “The Concept of Knowledge in the Qur’an” Was Held

On March 11, 2026, a scientific and educational seminar on “The Concept of Knowledge in the Qur’an” was held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of 91ý Kazakh National University. The event took place within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 – “Quality Education,” aimed at ensuring inclusive and equitable access to education and promoting lifelong learning. The seminar also served as a platform for discussing the integration of spiritual values into contemporary academic discourse.

The seminar was organized as part of initiatives focused on developing the faculty’s academic activities and expanding students’ spiritual and moral outlook, encouraging critical thinking and interdisciplinary engagement. It also fostered academic collaboration and dialogue among participants from different levels of study.

The special guest was Samet Okan, PhD, an Islamic studies scholar and lecturer at Nur-Mubarak Egyptian University of Islamic Culture. He presented his work “Tafsir of Short Surahs,” analyzing short Qur’anic chapters from religious, linguistic, and philosophical perspectives and linking them with contemporary values.

The seminar addressed key concepts of knowledge, cognition, responsibility, and spiritual development in the Qur’an, as well as their connection with modern higher education. Participants discussed their role in shaping intellectual potential and societal development.

A separate part focused on practical recommendations for writing academic texts. The speaker emphasized clear topic definition, reliance on credible sources, scientific accuracy, and logical structure, along with clarity, editing, and avoiding redundancy.

He also noted that writing a book requires discipline, motivation, academic integrity, and proper citation. Content quality should remain the priority, though presentation also matters.

The seminar generated strong interest among students and young researchers. Discussions highlighted the role of Qur’anic knowledge in developing human capital and strengthening intercultural dialogue.

The event was held in Room 123 at 39 Masanchi Street and was marked by a high academic level and active discussion. According to the organizers, it contributed to promoting quality education and integrating spiritual values into the academic environment.
