SDG 12. Responsible Consumption and Production

On March 28, 2026, Master’s students of the Foreign Philology program — Bilal Zere, Aitzhan Balzhan, Musa Aigerim, and Daurenbayeva Aida — held an educational event on the topic “Responsible Consumption and Production,” which is one of the Sustainable Development Goals. The supervisor of the event was Roza Masimkanovna Tayeva.

The purpose of the event was to expand students’ knowledge of responsible consumption, efficient use of natural resources, environmental protection, and the importance of environmentally safe production. In addition, the event aimed to develop ecological awareness and explain ways to reduce harm to nature in everyday life.

During the event, the students were divided into several groups and prepared presentations according to the topic. Each group not only presented theoretical information but also explained the importance of the issue through specific examples. While presenting, the participants paid special attention to ecology, consumer culture, waste sorting, and safety in production.

Group 1 gave a presentation on “Recycling Waste.” The group explained the concept of recycling and highlighted the importance of sorting waste. They also discussed the role of recycling paper, plastic, and glass in protecting the environment. It was noted that proper waste sorting helps reduce environmental pollution and save natural resources.

Group 2 presented on “Responsible Consumption.” During the presentation, the group discussed why people should avoid buying too many unnecessary things and emphasized the importance of saving water, electricity, and food. They also suggested simple and effective ways to reduce harm to nature in everyday life. The participants stressed that responsible consumption begins with a conscious attitude toward the environment.

Group 3 defended their presentation on “Eco-friendly Production.” This part focused on how factories and industrial enterprises affect nature, the causes of environmental pollution, and the importance of producing goods in a safer way. The group also discussed ways to reduce pollution, follow environmental requirements, and introduce safer technologies into production processes.

During the event, the participants actively exchanged ideas and shared their opinions on the topic. The presentations were informative, meaningful, and relevant. Each group tried to reveal its topic comprehensively and explain the social importance of responsible consumption and production. The event increased students’ interest in environmental issues and helped them better understand the need to treat nature with care. The event helped to increase students' interest in environmental issues and foster a deeper understanding of the need for respect for nature, the rational use of natural resources, and an appreciation of the importance of sustainable development.
