On April 2-3, 2026, Associate Professors of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Ponomarenko O.I., Ryskalyova R.G., and Tugelbayeva L.M., held an event for 10th and 11th grade students of the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 90 in Almaty as part of SDG 4 "Quality Education", SDG 6 "Clean Water and Sanitation", and SDG 13 "Climate Action".
The event was held in an interactive format and included: presentation speeches, group discussions, solving cases and practical tasks, a quiz on the topic of sustainable development.
Block on SDG 4 (Quality Education) The issues of education accessibility, digital technologies in education and the role of STEM disciplines were discussed. Students reviewed examples of the use of mathematical modeling and online education.
Block on SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) The students get acquainted with the problems of fresh water shortage, methods of water purification and rational water use. Tasks were proposed for calculating water consumption and filtration efficiency.
Block on SDG 13 (Climate change) The causes of climate change, the impact of anthropogenic factors and possible ways to reduce the carbon footprint were considered. Participants analyzed data and plotted graphs of temperature changes.
