As part of the Science Week dedicated to Science Day, an informative lecture by prominent archaeologist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhaken Taimagambetov was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Before the meeting, Chairman of the Board Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev specially received the famous scientist and expressed his deep respect to him. During the meeting, the head of the university emphasized the tireless work of the academician in the formation of the national archaeological school and his high authority in the international scientific space. For his significant contribution to the development of science and education, as well as to the study of national history, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev awarded Academician Zhaken Taimagambetov with special honor the gold medal of Farabi University.

The event continued in the scientific library of the university, where the academician gave a meaningful lecture on the topic: "Paleolithic of Kazakhstan and the work of international archaeological expeditions". The meeting was attended by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, ViceRector for Research and Innovation, scientists, teachers of the Faculties of History, Philology, Oriental Studies, Philosophy and Political Science, as well as young researchers.

Zhaken Taimagambetov is a unique researcher who has discovered more than 300 Paleolithic monuments. As the chief researcher of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he scientifically substantiated the fact that the territory of Kazakhstan was inhabited by the first people 1 million years ago, making a significant contribution to world archaeology. The scientist's works have been awarded with high state awards the Order of Parasat and the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun.

During the lecture, the academician presented the results of fundamental research of the last decade, paying special attention to the Kyzyltau complexes in the Zhambyl region and the parking lot named after Sh.Ualikhanov. He spoke in detail about the complexity of the excavations in the Tattybulak cave and the significance of the stone tools found there.

The academician also focused on the role of modern technologies. For example, during the 2025 expeditions, the use of drones for aerial photography and digital mapping at Tikenekta parking lots brought the accuracy of research to a new level. New data obtained from the Bozzhyra tract in Mangistau and the Ushbulak-1 sites in Shilikty make it possible to link the ancient cultures of Kazakhstan with the global processes of human development in the Upper Paleolithic era.

At the end of the meeting, an exchange of views took place, during which students and doctoral students received comprehensive answers to questions about modern methods of archeology and the prospects for international scientific cooperation.
