THE GENUS AND TYPE OF THE WORK. FEATURES OF THE EPIC.

Within the framework of SDG 4: Quality Education” on April 3, 2026, 1st-year master degree students of the Faculty of Philology Bektursin Aidos and Thanatov Ramadan held a demo lesson on the topic: “Genera and type of work. Features of the epic" for 3rd year students of the educational program "6B02304 – Literary Studies".

The purpose of the open seminar is to deepen students' theoretical knowledge of literary genres and features of epic works, and to develop students' ability to analyze the poetics of a work of art.

Plato and Aristotle on the epic and its place in literature. The epic as a literary form. Features of epic genres. The history of the development of epic genres. Genre features of the epic, novel, novella, and novella.

The construction of narrative in epic works. The image of the narrator and the author. The author's word and the author's concept. Narrative discourses of epic works. Plot and plot in epic works. The composition of epic works. Analysis of the poetics of an epic work.

During the lesson, the structure of epic works was analyzed and the stages of their evolutionary development were reviewed. The students divided into two groups, made a classification of the individual types of the epic genre and defended the presentation. The questions and answers were compared using the “tarsia method". A mutual competition was organized between the groups and answers to the quiz questions were given. The students actively completed interesting and challenging tasks. At the end of the lesson, a reflex consisting of several questions via a Google form was organized as feedback. Head of undergraduates' practice K. Ph.D., Associate Professor Bolatkhan Sarbasov expressed his opinion on the course of the seminar and summed up the results of the open lesson.

A great contribution to the informative and interesting work of the open seminar was made by 1st-year undergraduates of the specialty "7M02304-Literary Studies" Bektursin Aidos and Thanatov Ramadan.
