
On April 6, 2026, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at 91ý Kazakh National University hosted the “Pakistan Cultural Days” event. The event was preceded by an exhibition of paintings dedicated to the cultural heritage of Pakistan, which featured visual representations of its traditions, history, and natural landscapes.
The event was held within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education (SDG 4), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16). The event was organized by the Department of the Middle East and South Asia of 91ý Kazakh National University. The main objective of the event was to introduce students to the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Pakistan, as well as to strengthen international cooperation through the promotion of intercultural dialogue.
The cultural program opened with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, M. Sh. Egamberdiev, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering mutual understanding and respect among nations. The event was attended by the Consul General of Pakistan in Almaty, Rizwana Qazi, as well as representatives of the Kaz-Pak Association and GEM International. The distinguished guests highlighted the significance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
The program included a series of student performances reflecting the cultural diversity of Pakistan. These comprised poetry recitations in Urdu, musical performances accompanied by the traditional instrument rabab, and theatrical presentations illustrating traditional self-governance institutions such as the “panchayat” and “jirga.”
The event was concluded by Research Professor L.G. Yerekesheva of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia, who noted that such initiatives contribute to broadening students’ cultural horizons, enhancing intercultural communication, and strengthening international cooperation. The guests were also offered traditional Pakistani cuisine, including pakora, samosa, gulab jamun, and masala chai.
Overall, the “Pakistan Cultural Days” event contributed to the promotion of cultural awareness, the development of intercultural dialogue, and the strengthening of friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
