Within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 “Quality Education,” a scientific and educational meeting titled “What Is a Genius Novel?” was held on April 2, 2026, at 14:00 at the Faculty of Philology of 91ý Kazakh National University. The main objective of the event was to provide a scholarly interpretation of the phenomenon of the “genius novel,” to define the criteria for evaluating literary texts, and to broaden students’ literary and theoretical perspectives.
The event was organized by faculty members Samal Daribayev and E. M. Soltanayeva. The invited speaker was Erlan Kuanyshevich Askarbekov, the founder of the Mecenat.kz literary award and признанный лучший специалист в области PR and GR in the CIS since 2005.
During the meeting, the speaker focused on the concept of “virality” in contemporary literature, emphasizing its connection with a text’s ability to spread rapidly, reach a wide audience, and achieve high readership and circulation. In this regard, new mechanisms of interaction between author and reader in the modern literary process were scientifically explained.
In addition, Erlan Kuanyshevich encouraged young writers to actively engage in creative work, write novels, and participate in literary competitions. He highlighted that the Mecenat.kz award is conducted based on principles of fairness, and its winners receive a lifetime monthly stipend of 500 USD, which serves as an important tool for supporting and stimulating literary creativity.
In his speech, the speaker also emphasized the strong potential of national literature, noting that Kazakh writers should aim for global recognition and aspire to win the Nobel Prize. This idea served as a powerful source of motivation for students.
The event was held in an open dialogue format, where students actively asked questions and received comprehensive answers. The meeting became an important platform for both academic discussion and professional orientation.
