“Solar Energy Day” – A Step Toward Alternative Energy
On April 4, 2026, an educational and practical event titled “Solar Energy Day” was held at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of 91ý Kazakh National University. The event brought together students and faculty members who actively participated in the seminar.
The main purpose of the event was to introduce the potential of solar energy, demonstrate how solar panels work, and raise awareness about the importance of renewable energy sources. Today, renewable energy plays a crucial role in ensuring environmental sustainability.
The open seminar was conducted by Senior Lecturer of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, ecologist Bayan Khalelovna Tussupova. In her presentation, she highlighted the advantages of solar energy, its environmental benefits, and development prospects in Kazakhstan.
During the seminar, a practical demonstration of solar panels installed on the faculty premises was conducted. Participants observed how solar energy is converted into electricity and learned about ways to improve efficiency as well as the economic benefits of solar technologies.
In addition, the participants discussed the role of renewable energy in reducing emissions and facilitating the transition to a green economy. The seminar was interactive, allowing students to ask questions and share their opinions.
Such events contribute to shaping the professional outlook of future environmental specialists and increase their interest in sustainable development.
