The scientific partnership between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Kazhydromet Center has reached a new technological level.

Within the framework of joint projects, the parties are starting to implement the next stages of digitalization of the hydrometeorological industry. At the next working meeting, KazNU scientists clarified the priority areas for the development of bilateral scientific and technical cooperation.

During the meeting, the interim results achieved through the use of modern technological resources were highly appreciated and further strategic plans were analyzed. The key topic of discussion was the practical application of a high-precision numerical forecasting model based on the power of a supercomputer and the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) system.

Amirkhan Temirbayev, Director of the Farabi Supercomputer Center, provided detailed information about the technical capabilities and computing power of the innovative model. He noted that the model, working with a spatial resolution of 2 kilometers, will significantly improve the quality of meteorological forecasts in Kazakhstan.

In turn, Omirzhan Taukebayev, CEO of Farabi Cluster, focused on expanding the scope of supercomputer technologies for solving applied problems. According to him, the use of artificial intelligence to improve forecasts, as well as the integration of modern methods of processing and analyzing "Big Data" are among the key priorities.

The meeting also discussed ways to increase the speed of data processing and improve system efficiency. Following the meeting, important agreements were reached on deepening joint research in the field of climate monitoring and ensuring hydrometeorological safety.
