As part of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, an educational outreach event titled “Healthy Nutrition and Digestive Health — The Foundation for Academic and Life Success” was held for 6th-grade students of School-Gymnasium No. 120 in Almaty. The main goal of the event was to educate students on the principles of healthy eating, maintaining digestive health, and fostering habits that support overall well-being and academic success.
The event was organized and conducted by instructors: Tolenova K.D., Kamalova M.N., Kadyrova A.A., Kudaybergenova A.K., Aitzhan M.U., They prepared an engaging and accessible program to help students understand the importance of proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits.
During the event, students learned about the role of the digestive system, how it functions, and how its health directly affects overall well-being, energy levels, concentration, and learning ability.
The instructors emphasized the principles of balanced nutrition, explaining which foods are necessary for proper growth and development, as well as the importance of vitamins and minerals for maintaining health and strengthening immunity. Students were also informed about the harmful effects of excessive consumption of fast food, sugary carbonated drinks, chips, and foods high in sugar, salt, or artificial additives.
An interactive component allowed students to actively participate in discussions, answer questions, and engage in quizzes, helping them reinforce the information in an enjoyable and memorable way.
The importance of meal timing, regular breakfast, and adequate hydration was also highlighted. Proper nutrition was shown to influence not only physical health but also cognitive abilities, memory, and attention, all of which are crucial for academic success.
The event generated significant interest among students. They actively asked questions, shared their habits, and showed genuine curiosity about healthy living. Such educational initiatives foster responsibility for personal health and help develop lifelong healthy habits.
