On April 7, 2026, the Higher School of Economics and Business of 91ý Kazakh National University hosted the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “The Paradigm of Sustainable Economic Development in the Context of Global Changes: Challenges, Consequences, Opportunities” within the framework of the V International Farabi Forum. The large-scale scientific event was aimed at comprehensively discussing pressing issues of sustainable development amid the transformation of the global economy.


The purpose of the conference was to discuss scientific research and practices aimed at shaping a sustainable economic development model, as well as to strengthen cooperation between the academic and business communities.

 

The conference brought together leading scholars from Kazakhstan and abroad, representatives of government bodies, international organizations, and the business community. The event served not only as a platform for scientific exchange but also as an important dialogue venue strengthening the link between education, science, and industry.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by First Vice-Rector of the University, Yerkin Ermanuly Duisenov, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality and practical relevance of scientific research in the context of current global challenges. The conference also featured speeches by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Madi Takiyev, Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the VIII convocation and member of the Committee on Socio-Cultural Development, Daulet Mukayev, Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences, Askar Zhumadildayev, and other distinguished speakers who shared their perspectives on the country’s socio-economic development and digital transformation.

 

The plenary session defined the core scientific agenda of the conference. Key topics included Kazakhstan’s digital development strategy, labor market transformation, the impact of artificial intelligence on various sectors of the economy, as well as inflationary processes and macroeconomic stability.

 

In particular, Miras Zakiyev presented Kazakhstan’s digital breakthrough strategy, while Indu John Abraham outlined key drivers of the future economy. A representative of Mastercard, Elya Mamleeva, analyzed the transformation of financial ecosystems and the impact of artificial intelligence on the financial sector.

 

Issues of sustainability in the transport and logistics sector were addressed in the report by Ramiya Sarayeva, while the impact of digitalization on business was demonstrated by Maksat Kalibekov through practical cases. Macroeconomic stability and inflation issues were thoroughly analyzed in the report by Nariman Abilshaikov.

 

Within the international scientific track, Antonio Maffei discussed IT/OT integration in industrial systems, Jagan Jeevan highlighted the importance of logistics and dry ports, Elena Popkova addressed digitalization in the agro-industrial sector, and Yosini Deliana examined trends in sustainable consumption. In addition, Professor Bulat Mukhamediev presented a scientific model on oil revenues and macroeconomic risks.

 

A distinctive feature of the conference was the wide range of opportunities offered to participants. Sectional sessions covered global challenges and strategic priorities, finance and public audit, business technology transformation, and emerging trends in management.

 

Workshops and master classes were also held on the application of artificial intelligence and neural networks, publishing in international scientific journals, leadership and team management, financial literacy, and investment strategies. These activities enabled participants to effectively combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

 

Furthermore, the conference served as an important platform for effective interaction between science and business. Open discussions with industry representatives were organized, and extensive networking opportunities were provided for the business community and startups. This contributed to the commercialization of scientific projects and the development of innovative initiatives.

 

In conclusion, the conference became a significant scientific platform aimed at shaping new paradigms of sustainable development in the context of global economic changes. It strengthened cooperation between academia, government, and business, and made a substantial contribution to enhancing Kazakhstan’s position in the international scientific community.
