Interuniversity interactive team competition TIME QUEST (ONLINE)
On April 8, 2026, the Department of Finance and Accounting held an interuniversity interactive team competition TIME QUEST (ONLINE) on the topic “The Hidden Truth of Numbers: Social Justice in Accounting, Auditing, and Finance in the Context of Economic Digitalization, the Development of ESG Approaches, the Strengthening of Corporate Social Responsibility, and the Transformation of Financial Institutions,” implemented within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 10, 16, and 8). The event was organized by advisor G.N. Appakova, senior lecturer E.A.Actureva in collaboration with the academic groups “Finance-25” and “Accounting and Auditing-25” (post-college track). The competition consisted of three rounds. The first round was an analytical battle conducted live in an online format. At this stage, participants answered questions in real time related to the mechanisms of formation and accounting of social contributions at enterprises. The second round involved solving a case study that included a creative assignment completed as homework. The third round consisted of a comparative analysis of the social policies of Kazakhstani organizations and foreign companies, presented by participants as a take-home assignment. The competition reflected the requirements of the modern educational environment, where financial information is considered a tool for making socially significant organizational decisions. Particular relevance is given to the assessment of the distributive effects of a company’s financial policy. The competition tasks incorporated the interests of various stakeholders in the analysis of organizational reporting. This contributes to the development of systems thinking and professional responsibility among future specialists. The practice-oriented nature of the competition strengthens the link between theoretical knowledge and real business cases. Interuniversity collaboration broadens academic perspectives and promotes the exchange of expertise among participants. The interactive format of the competition significantly increases participant engagement and facilitates the development of practical skills.
The evaluation of the results was carried out by a jury consisting of Professor D.O. Onaltaev, Associate Professor Zh.Z. Oralbayeva, and the Chair of the Jury — Katshybekov Rauan Baurzhanovich, Development Director of the evaluation company ”Primary Solution" LLP.
According to the results of the competition:
1st place — the team of 3rd-year students of the “Accounting and Auditing” EP at аl-Farabi Kazakh National University: Sarsenbayeva R., Yerkegalikyzy Z., Tursynbay A., Moyetbek M. (supervisor: G. Zh. Zhunusova).
2nd place — the team of 4th-year students of the “Accounting and Auditing” EP at Narxoz University: Magamatova Sh., Imenzhan Z., Amankul A., Serikbolova T. (supervisor: G.T. Andybayeva), as well as the team of the “Finance” EP and “Accounting and Auditing” EP at Turan University: Kopbayeva A., Bazarbek Zh., Myrzabek D., Davletkulova N. (supervisor: S.Zh. Praliyeva)/
3rd place — the team of the “Finance” program at Kazakh-British Technical University: Nurmukhanbet D., Urazova R., as well as the “Finance” EP and “Accounting and Auditing” EP: Kim A., Akhayeva A. (supervisor: A.D. Karshalova), and the team of the “Finance” EP at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University: Token Zh., Tursyngazy D., Manapova A., Yessenova Zh. (supervisor: S.A. Fayzullina).
The competition received positive feedback from students and their academic supervisors, who expressed their appreciation for the high level of organization during the online broadcast. Participants emphasized that TIME QUEST became an effective educational platform that facilitates knowledge integration and the development of analytical thinking in the fields of finance, accounting, and auditing.
