Within the framework of the program "Sustainable Development Goals", the Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-University Education of the Al–Farabi Kazakh National University holds events aimed at educating the students of the department - foreign students of a humanistic attitude to the environment. Everyone understands the importance of solving environmental problems on our planet, and it is on each person that the state of our nature depends, therefore, students of the Faculty of Pre–university Education and I join the actions that are carried out in the world by activists - fighters for clean air and clean water. Such events can be held on any day and in any place. However, on March 28, 2026, as part of the "SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy" initiative, the "Earth Hour" was held on the last Saturday of March, as it is an international environmental event that takes place worldwide on the last Saturday of March. On this day, from 20:30 to 21:30 local time, people turn off their lights and electrical appliances to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable practices. At the national level, there is a symbolic turning off of the lights of famous buildings and offices. This year, the event in Kazakhstan is dedicated to the development of ecotourism. Even such significant landmarks as the Akorda residence and the Baiterek monument had their lights turned off.

On March 28, 2026, we turned off the lights in our homes, apartments, and dormitories for one hour, from 20:30 to 21:30, in order to save energy. This seemingly insignificant action nevertheless helps to save energy and helps to avoid polluting the environment and atmosphere.
