“Turkish Language and Culture: Essential Knowledge to Know”
On April 9, 2026, an open lesson titled “Türk dili ve kültürü: bilinmesi gereken temel bilgiler” was held in room 320 of the Faculty of Philology at 91ý Kazakh National University. The lesson was organized for 2nd-year students of the “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” educational program and conducted under the supervision of the lecturer of the Department of Turkology and Language Theory, K.B. Ashirkulov, by the 1st-year trainee student A. Furkan Çakan.

The main purpose of the event was to improve students’ grammatical knowledge of the Turkish language, as well as to broaden their understanding of Turkish language and culture, and to develop an integrated approach to language and cultural learning. During the lesson, students not only acquired theoretical knowledge but also had the opportunity to apply it in practice by linking it with cultural content.

During the lesson, the topics “Görülen geçmiş zaman” and “Duyulan geçmiş zaman” were covered, including their grammatical structures, usage in sentences, and comparative features with the Kazakh language. These grammatical topics were also integrated with materials related to Turkish language and culture.

In the content section, students were introduced to Turkish history and prominent figures, major cities of the Republic of Türkiye, national cuisine, traditional dances, literature and poets, musical instruments, as well as contemporary scientists. The use of visual materials and interactive methods increased students’ interest and ensured their active participation.
Faculty members of the Department of Turkology and Language Theory also attended the open lesson and shared their feedback.
Throughout the lesson, students demonstrated their knowledge and developed their creative abilities, critical thinking skills, and language competencies. The event had a positive impact on their professional and personal development and increased their interest in Turkish language and culture.
