On April 10, 2026, an open dialogue on the topic “Career Path of an Orientalist” was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, organized by the Department of the Middle East and South Asia. The event was conducted in a hybrid format (online and offline) with the participation of first-year students of the educational program “Oriental Studies (Arabic Language)”.

The purpose of the event was to familiarize students with real career trajectories of graduates, broaden their understanding of professional opportunities in the field of Oriental Studies, and develop practical skills necessary for successful careers in various sectors.

During the meeting, three graduates of the faculty who have successfully built their careers in different professional fields addressed the students: Izbasarov Sayat Bauyrzhanovich – Business Development Manager (MENA region) at Nomado Partners; Adylbekov Anes – Chief Expert at the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Seilkhanov Gali Askarovich – First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The speakers shared their professional experience, discussed their career choices, highlighted the specifics of working as an orientalist in public service, diplomacy, and international business, and outlined key skills required in modern conditions. Particular attention was paid to the practical importance of the Arabic language, intercultural communication, and employment opportunities in various sectors — from diplomacy and public service to international trade and analytics.

During the meeting, students had the opportunity to ask questions, learn about real career paths of graduates, and receive recommendations for their professional development. Such events strengthen the connection between graduates and students and help future orientalists better navigate their career choices.

The event also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 “Quality Education” and Goal 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, by enhancing the quality of education, developing students’ professional competencies, and supporting their successful integration into the labor market, as well as fostering international cooperation.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to the invited graduates for their insightful presentations and contribution to students’ professional orientation.
