“The Art of Conflict Resolution and Negotiation”

On April 9, 2026, an educational and informative open lesson on the topic “The Art of Conflict Resolution and Negotiation” was conducted. The event was led by Bilal Zere Spandiyarkyzy. The lesson was supervised by Alimbayeva Adiliya Talasbekovna.

The main purpose of the event was to explain to students the essence of the concept of conflict, analyze the causes of its emergence, introduce effective ways of resolving conflict situations, and develop a culture of negotiation. In addition, the event aimed to improve students’ communication skills, help them achieve mutual understanding, enhance their culture of exchanging opinions, and encourage them to resolve disputes peacefully.

During the open lesson, various conflict situations commonly encountered in modern society, the educational environment, and everyday life were discussed. In particular, the lesson addressed misunderstandings between people, differences in viewpoints, inability to control emotions, barriers in communication, and factors that intensify disagreements. In this regard, it was explained that conflict is not only a negative phenomenon, but also a process which, when managed properly, can lead to mutual understanding, new solutions, and personal growth.

During the event, students were given a detailed explanation of the main ways of resolving conflicts. In particular, important principles such as listening carefully to the opposing side, remaining calm, controlling emotions, identifying the root cause of the problem, reaching a common decision, and observing ethics during negotiations were discussed. It was also emphasized that the art of negotiation is an important tool for building trusting relationships, expressing one’s position clearly and appropriately, and finding solutions that are beneficial for both sides.

After the theoretical part, the students were offered creative and practical tasks. Bachelor’s degree students were divided into several groups, and each group was given specific conflict situations. The students analyzed these situations, identified the causes of the problems, and proposed effective ways to solve them. In addition, they demonstrated negotiation models in practice, showing their ability to build dialogue, present arguments, respect opposing opinions, and reach mutual agreement.

As a creative task, each group was asked to prepare a short role-play or situational performance on the topic “Ways Out of a Conflict Situation.” The students performed their roles confidently and demonstrated different methods of conflict resolution. One group portrayed a misunderstanding between friends, the second group presented a disagreement in the educational process, and the third group suggested ways of resolving conflicts in a social environment through negotiation. Each group presented its work and explained the main methods used to resolve the conflict, as well as the reasons for choosing those particular approaches.

These tasks helped reveal the students’ creative abilities, develop their critical thinking skills, improve their teamwork, and deepen their understanding of the given topic. In addition, during the open lesson, the students freely expressed their opinions and shared their thoughts on the importance of resolving conflicts in a cultured and respectful manner within society.

The open lesson, organized under the supervision of Alimbayeva Adiliya Talasbekovna, was conducted at a high level with the active participation of students. At the end of the event, the students realized that conflict resolution and negotiation skills are important not only in the educational environment, but also in everyday life. They understood that mutual respect, self-control, understanding, and effective communication are the main keys to solving any problem.
