Open Curatorial Event on “The Impact of Responsible Consumption Culture Formation on Climate Sustainability”
On April 13, within the framework of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, an open curatorial event on the topic “The Impact of Responsible Consumption Culture Formation on Climate Sustainability” was held at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism, for first-year students of the “Tourism” program. The event was organized in accordance with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
The event was conducted as part of the teaching practice of first-year master’s students of the “Tourism” educational program – Aruzhan Serikbol, Symbat Berkinbayeva, Kerbez Shedeukhan, and Sandugash Duisengaliyeva.
During the event, students were introduced to the theoretical foundations of responsible consumption culture, its significance in ensuring climate sustainability, and the practical application of sustainable development principles in everyday life. In addition, the Fabriqa textile collection box was presented as an example of waste recycling practices and the implementation of circular economy elements.
As part of the event, an экскурсия to the Center for Sustainable Development and Rational Use of Natural Resources was organized. Participants were introduced to the center’s key activities, ongoing projects, and environmental initiatives, which contributed to reinforcing theoretical knowledge through practical experience.
The event was aimed at developing students’ environmental awareness, enhancing their understanding of sustainable development principles, and strengthening their professional competencies.
The event was organized at a high level with the participation of the Head of the Department, PhD Bayburiev R.M., and the department’s faculty members — Cand. of Geogr. Sci., Associate Professor Aliyeva Zh.N., Cand. of Geogr. Sci., Associate Professor Abdreyeva Sh.T., as well as the supervisor of pedagogical practice — Cand. of Ped. Sci., Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management, Bayarystanova E.T. The event was a meaningful and informative practical activity for students. Moreover, it contributed to the development of students’ environmental culture, strengthened their understanding of sustainable development principles, and broadened their professional outlook.
