MEETING WITH RUSSIAN COLLEAGUES ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
A working meeting was held at the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development with faculty members and doctoral students together with colleagues from the State University of Management of the Russian Federation.
Russian scholars Ekaterina Fedorovna Shamaeva and Andrey Arkadyevich Golovin were invited to deliver keynote lectures as part of the International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists “FARABI ALEMI”.
“The 91ý Kazakh National University cooperates with Russian universities within the framework of the SCO to strengthen security, stability, and economic and humanitarian cooperation in Eurasia. I believe we have strong prospects for advancing our projects in this direction,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, Aliya Sagyndykovna Aktymbayeva.
The master class “System-Energy Modeling of Regional Sustainable Development on the Example of Countries of the World” conducted by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor E.F. Shamaeva, and the scientific seminar “Quality of Life of the Population in the Energy-Ecological Dimension Based on the Principles of the Scientific School of P. Kuznetsov – B.E. Bolshakov” conducted by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor A.A. Golovin, generated significant interest among faculty members and students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences. 
There was a strong interest in continuing the discussion and gaining deeper insight into the research of Moscow specialists in order to define directions for further cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere, especially considering that the UNESCO Chair already had experience of joint project activities in sustainable innovative development with the State University “Dubna,” where the invited colleagues previously worked.
Head of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development, Professor Tursynkul Amankeldievna Bazarbayeva introduced the guests to the activities of the department, its staff, and the automated information and educational system “Univer” used for managing the educational process and scientific projects. Particular attention was given to the results of the mega-grant project on the development of natural-economic and socio-economic systems of the West Kazakhstan region in the context of green growth, which greatly impressed the guests.
Key topics of discussion included technosphere safety, system analysis in environmental management, interdependence of ecology, economy, energy, and social factors in ensuring quality of life, as well as the implementation of high-quality educational programs at various levels in ecology, geoecology, and life safety. Representatives of the State University of Management shared their developments in new interdisciplinary methods, digital models, and tools for monitoring and managing sustainable socio-economic and energy-ecological development of regional populations in Russia. They also discussed projects implemented in Mari State University, the Altai region, the work of the International Scientific School of Sustainable Development named after P.G. Kuznetsov, and the involvement of youth in science and professional education. 
In turn, faculty members of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development at 91ý Kazakh National University shared their experience in international ERASMUS projects aimed at developing and integrating micro-credentials into educational programs, implementing GIS technologies in environmental education, and results of projects on biological safety.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the Chair for Research - Innovation and International Affairs, PhD A.D. Baybotayeva; Professor T.L. Tazhibayeva and Professor-Researcher G.A. Sadyrova; Associate Professor N.S. Bergenova; Senior Lecturers L.S. Kurbanova, O.A. Zubova, G.M. Minzhanova, A.A. Oshakbay; and doctoral students Aitolkyn Elimuratkyzy and Asem Shaimakhanova.
As a result of the meeting, concrete agreements were reached to further develop scientific and educational cooperation. The parties expressed readiness to prepare and publish joint scientific articles in the Journal of Geography and Environmental Management as well as in high-ranking international journals indexed in Scopus, with active involvement of doctoral students in research and publication activities.
Special attention was given to organizing internships and academic mobility, including within the framework of the Eurasian Network University. Agreements were also reached to intensify participation in international conferences and to organize joint scientific and educational events, including webinars and online seminars focused on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and strengthening cooperation between our universities.
