Information Meeting on the Topic “Public Safety and the Role of Youth”
An informational and educational meeting titled “Public Safety and the Role of Youth” was organized at the Department of Solid State Physics and Technology of New Materials within the Faculty of Physics and Technology at 91ý Kazakh National University. The event was attended by first-year students of the “Materials Science and Technology of New Materials” educational program. The meeting was held as a group-level discussion, allowing students to engage deeply with contemporary issues.
The primary objective of the meeting was to raise awareness among students about the mechanisms of ensuring national stability, foster a firm civic position, and enhance students' legal and informational literacy in the context of public safety. Holding such advisory sessions is a vital component of the department's educational work, aimed at developing students' critical thinking, civic responsibility, and resilience against destructive ideologies.
In the context of globalization and rapid information exchange, it is particularly important to equip young people with the ability to critically evaluate information, recognize potential risks to social stability, and make well-informed decisions based on legal norms. During the meeting, comprehensive information was provided on the nature of public safety, its key components, and its impact on societal processes. Safety was described as a state of protection for the vital interests of individuals and society from internal and external threats.
Particular attention was given to the social and legal risks associated with modern challenges. Participants examined various aspects of security, including informational and ideological resilience. It was emphasized that any manifestations of radicalism or legal nihilism could negatively affect social stability and security.
The discussion also addressed the mechanisms through which destructive ideas are disseminated and the methods of manipulation used to destabilize the youth environment. It was highlighted that students' active civic position serves as a tool for crime prevention. In modern conditions, internet platforms and social media are frequently used to spread misleading information. Therefore, the importance of developing media literacy and information analysis skills was strongly emphasized to the students.
The meeting also explored the psychological and social consequences of safety violations. It was noted that threats to stability pose a serious risk not only to the state but also to the development of young people by limiting their growth opportunities. In this regard, the importance of educational initiatives and legal awareness programs was highlighted. Students actively participated in the discussion, expressing their views and asking questions. The open dialogue format created a constructive environment for a deeper understanding of the issues. Such educational activities play a significant role in strengthening legal culture and promoting responsible behavior. The meeting became an important element of the faculty's work in maintaining peace and stability in society.
