Reviving the legacy of the nation's leader

The republican scientific and methodological conference "'Қазақ' newspaper - the national tribune of the Voice of Alash", dedicated to UNESCO World Press Freedom Day, was held at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

 

The event was dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the outstanding statesman, leader of the Alash movement, publicist Alikhan Bokeikhan, as well as the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO Chair of Journalism and Communication.

The conference was attended by renowned scholars of alashology, statesmen, writers and representatives of international organizations.

The participants discussed the historical role of the newspaper "Қазақ" in the formation of national identity and the contribution of Alikhan Bokeikhan to the development of national journalism.

The Acting Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Manshuk Mukasheva, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. She noted that the legacy of the newspaper "Қазақ" still serves as the foundation for the formation of principles of high-quality and responsible journalism. In her opinion, studying Bokeikhan's works is necessary to educate a new generation of specialists capable of combining national values with modern communication technologies.

Such prominent figures as academician Mambet Koigeldiev, writer Ulykbek Yesdaulet and scientist Sultan Khan made presentations at the plenary session, who conducted an in-depth analysis of the relevance of the Alash heritage.

As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO Chair, experts also focused on international cooperation and the introduction of new educational standards in the training of media professionals.
