Integration of Sustainable Development Goals into the System of Educational Work at the University
On April 13, 2026, within the framework of pedagogical practice, master’s students of the educational program «7M05207 – Meteorology» – Nam D.S., Zarip D.E. and Tursun M.M. under the supervision of Senior Lecturer Bayarystanova E.T. from the Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management, conducted an educational event for 2nd-year undergraduate students on the topic «Climate Change as a Global Challenge to Sustainable Development».
The purpose of the event was to familiarize students with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on SDG 13 «Climate Action», as well as to develop an understanding of the causes, scale, and consequences of climate change. Special attention was paid to analyzing the impact of even a slight increase in the Earth’s average temperature on ecosystems, the economy, and public health.
The content of the session included an overview of the scientific foundations of global warming, its causes, and its consequences. Students were provided with structured information on climate change and its effects on the environment and human activity. An important aspect of the discussion was the professional role of future meteorologists in monitoring climate processes, analyzing atmospheric phenomena, and developing adaptation measures.
Interactive teaching methods (discussions and problem-based questions) were used during the session, ensuring active student engagement and fostering the development of critical thinking skills.
The analytical part addressed measures to mitigate the effects of climate change, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, developing renewable energy sources, promoting rational use of natural resources, and enhancing environmental awareness among the population.
Thus, the event contributed to the development of a holistic understanding among students of the global issue of climate change and the importance of professional engagement in addressing it within the framework of SDG 13.
