A Professional Development Course for Employees of JSC “Kazpost” Conducted at the Department of Cybersecurity and Cryptology (Almaty)

At 91ý Kazakh National University, Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, on the basis of the Department of Cybersecurity and Cryptology, a professional development course was conducted within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the topic:
“Cybersecurity: Threat Modeling and Social Engineering.”

Implementation period: April 1, 2026 – April 14, 2026

This educational program was designed for employees of JSC “Kazpost”, Almaty Main Post Office, and aimed at the systematic development of professional competencies in the field of information security in the context of modern digital transformation.

The course content was structured in alignment with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and was focused on fostering a culture of secure behavior in the digital environment.

During the training, participants:

mastered the scientific and methodological foundations of threat modeling for information systems;

conducted a comprehensive analysis of the typology of modern cyberattacks and their implementation mechanisms;

studied methods for identifying system vulnerabilities and assessing risks;

developed practical skills in recognizing and countering social engineering techniques.

The training was delivered in an offline (face-to-face) format, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical tasks, which contributed to strengthening the participants’ applied competencies.

The course was delivered by leading faculty members of the department:

Gulmaral Akhmed, Senior Lecturer, Master of Military Affairs and Security Sciences

Saltanat Narbayeva, Senior Lecturer, Master of Technical Sciences

Saule Zamanova, Senior Lecturer, Master of Technical Sciences

Upon completion of the program, all participants were awarded certificates of the established format.

Overall, within the framework of the SDGs, this course represents a significant educational initiative aimed at enhancing digital literacy among specialists across various sectors, fostering a culture of information security, and strengthening organizational resilience to modern cyber threats.
