SDG-4 On April 15, 2026, the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication of the Faculty of Journalism of the 91ý Kazakh National University has held the Republican scientific and methodological Conference "Kazakh Newspaper - the national tribune of the Voice of Alash", dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the leader of the Alash–Orda movement, prominent publicist Alikhan Bokeikhan and to UNESCO World Press Freedom Day.

During the event, issues of the formation of the national press at the beginning of the 20th century, the historical significance of the Kazakh newspaper, as well as the journalistic legacy of Alikhan Bokeikhan and his continuity in the modern media space were discussed. The Acting Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Manshuk Mukasheva, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. She noted that the legacy of the newspaper "Kazak" still serves as the foundation for the formation of principles of high-quality and responsible journalism.

Such well-known Alash scholars as academician Mambet Koigeldiev, scientists Aigul Ismakova, Sultan Khan Akkululy, Amankos Mektep, Eldos Toktarbai made presentations at the plenary session, who conducted an in-depth analysis of the relevance of the Alash heritage.

The presentation of the book album "Alikhan Bokeikhan – the first Prime Minister of Kazakhstan" and the screening of the documentary film directed by Berik Barysbekov "Alikhan Bokeikhan... As long as I'm alive, I won't stop serving the Kazakhs".

Undoubtedly, this event has become a platform for discussion and discussions on the worthy assessment of not only the journalistic works of the founders of the Alash press, including Alikhan Bokeikhan, who became the national leader, but also their contribution to the future of the nation from a new perspective.
