On April 15, 2026, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management hosted an Open Day, bringing together school students interested in choosing their future profession and applying to university.

From the very beginning, participants were immersed in the vibrant academic and research environment of the faculty. Guests received comprehensive information about the faculty’s structure, academic programs, and the specifics of the educational process. Particular interest was sparked by discussions on career opportunities and the growing demand for specialists in geography, meteorology, and hydrology.

A key highlight of the program was the introduction to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology. Senior lecturers Yerdessbay A.N., Musralinova G.T., Raimbekova Zh.T., along with Associate Professor Mussina A.K., presented the academic programs in Meteorology and Hydrology. They spoke about the curriculum, practical training, and career prospects, while also engaging directly with students by answering their questions.

The laboratory tour left a strong impression on the visitors. Students had the opportunity to explore modern equipment used in both education and research, and to observe how atmospheric processes and water systems are studied in practice.

One of the most memorable parts of the event was an interactive demonstration using virtual reality (VR) technology. Through VR headsets, participants were able to immerse themselves in climate change processes and transformations of water resources. This innovative approach helped them better understand global environmental challenges in an engaging and visual way.

The Open Day was held in a warm and engaging atmosphere, leaving participants with positive impressions and a deeper interest in the faculty’s academic programs. For many students, the event became an important step toward making an informed decision about their future careers.
