District Eco-Forum “Green School — Clean World: From Idea to Results” Held
The district eco-forum titled “Green School — Clean World: From Idea to Results” was held at Secondary School No. 4 named after Abylai Khan in the Enbekshikazakh district of the Almaty region.
The forum served as a practical implementation of the national initiative “Taza Kazakhstan” and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its main objective was to foster environmental awareness among students, support eco-projects, and disseminate best practices.
The event brought together representatives of the Enbekshikazakh District Department of Education of the Almaty Region, the district methodological center, the Department of Ecology, the “LiftEd” platform, as well as the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of 91ý Kazakh National University and the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development.
Head of the UNESCO Chair, Bazarbayeva Tursynkul Amankeldiyevna, emphasized the importance of advancing environmental education and integrating sustainable development principles.
As part of the forum, a “Green School” eco-corner was opened, along with a dedicated space for implementing students’ environmental initiatives. This space will further support the development of eco-projects, practical activities, and the cultivation of environmental responsibility.
The forum featured several thematic sections:
· Eco-Vision – Green School
· Eco-Step – Zero Waste Step
· “Biohumus: The Natural Code of Soil Fertility”
· “Nature Laboratory: Handmade Natural Products”.
During the sessions, students presented their environmental projects and shared practical experience in recycling, greening, biohumus production, and natural product creation.
Students from Secondary School No. 4 named after Abylai Khan, schools named after O. Zhandosov and K. Satpayev, School-Lyceum No. 6, and the school named after Raimbek Batyr actively participated in the forum.
One of the key outcomes of the forum was the opening of a practical classroom under the “Nature Laboratory” initiative.
At the conclusion of the event, 11th-grade students planted trees in the “Graduates’ Alley” and entrusted their care to 6th-grade students.
