GREEN HERITAGE OF THE GREAT STEPPE

On April 18, 2026, a cognitive and ecological event titled “Green Heritage of the Great Steppe” was organized and successfully held at the Almaty State Nature Reserve with the participation of students of the “Biology” educational program.

The main goal of the event was to foster environmental awareness among students and young people, explain the importance of plant life, and increase responsibility for preserving the biodiversity of the native land.

During the event, participants were provided with informative materials about the vegetation cover of the reserve, as well as rare and endemic plant species. In addition, lectures were delivered on the characteristics of the flora of the Great Steppe and its ecological significance, and an educational экскурсия was organized.

As part of the event, participants also visited the national museum located within the reserve and became acquainted with its exhibits. The museum featured natural heritage items, specimens of rare plants and animals, as well as valuable information related to the ecological history of the region. This part significantly broadened participants’ knowledge and increased their interest in nature.

During the event, students actively participated, exchanged views on environmental protection issues, and engaged in a question-and-answer session. A tree-planting campaign was also conducted, allowing participants to contribute to environmental conservation.

This event was aimed at developing ecological culture, fostering a love for nature, and raising awareness about the importance of preserving the “green heritage”.

The event was organized and conducted under the guidance of Senior Lecturer of the Department of Botany and Agroecology Ryskali T.B. and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Zoology, Histology and Cytology Tileshova M.T.
