Republican Student Olympiad in “Electric Power Engineering” Held at KazNU

On April 21–22, 91ý Kazakh National University is hosting the Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the educational program “Electric Power Engineering”, bringing together teams from leading universities across Kazakhstan.

The aim of the Olympiad is to identify, develop, and support talented students, as well as to deepen their professional knowledge and practical skills in the field of electric power engineering.

Within the framework of the Olympiad, participants demonstrate their knowledge and competencies in key disciplines such as Electrical Machines, Power Networks and Systems, and Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises. The competition tasks include solving theoretical and practical problems closely aligned with real-world challenges in the energy sector.

At the official opening ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, N.A. Beisen, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of such intellectual competitions in training highly qualified specialists. She noted that the development of the energy sector is a national priority and highlighted that such Olympiads serve as an effective platform for knowledge exchange and the development of professional competencies among future engineers.

This year, teams from leading universities of Kazakhstan are participating, including L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after G. Daukeyev, M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University, M. Tynyshpayev ALT University, A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Zhangir Khan West Kazakhstan Agrarian and Technical University, International Transport and Humanities University, Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, Satbayev University, and others. This participation contributes to strengthening academic cooperation and fostering the exchange of experience between institutions. 

 

The Olympiad results will be announced on April 22.

The event is closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, it contributes to SDG 4 – Quality Education, as it enhances students’ competencies and promotes high-quality learning. It also supports SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by fostering engineering thinking and preparing specialists for the energy sector. Furthermore, the participation of multiple universities strengthens collaboration, aligning with SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
