Students of the 2nd year (groups 03 and 04) of the educational program “6B05102 – Scientific Biology” at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of 91ý Kazakh National University held a curatorial session on April 21, 2026, on the topic “Methods of Improving Financial Literacy.”
Curator: Candidate of Biological Sciences, Senior Lecturer Zhanar Sagatovna Omarova.
The purpose of the session was to raise awareness among young people about the importance of financial literacy, develop skills in effective personal financial management, teach proper planning of income and expenses, and enhance financial responsibility.
In modern society, financial literacy is one of the key prerequisites for a successful and stable life. The ability to manage money wisely, use resources efficiently, and plan for the future plays a crucial role in an individual’s well-being. In this context, the open session comprehensively explored methods for improving financial literacy and aimed to deepen students’ knowledge in this area.
During the session, theoretical knowledge was effectively integrated with practical tasks, encouraging students to express their ideas freely. Participants emphasized that financial literacy is not limited to earning income; rather, it primarily involves the proper allocation and planning of financial resources. Students highlighted the importance of advanced financial planning as a key factor in achieving financial stability and noted that such skills should be developed from an early age.
Special attention was given to financial discipline. Regular monitoring of income and expenses helps prevent unnecessary spending. Students also noted that financial literacy represents an important step toward a secure future and that sound financial decisions made today form the foundation for long-term stability. The importance of a savings culture was emphasized, demonstrating how small but consistent habits can lead to significant results. Financial independence, in turn, contributes to increased self-confidence.
During the session, students discussed effective approaches such as budgeting, setting financial goals, developing saving habits, reducing unnecessary expenses, and identifying additional sources of income. Through group work and practical exercises, they analyzed real-life situations and proposed their own solutions.
In conclusion, the open session successfully achieved its objectives. Students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of financial literacy and learned practical ways to apply it in their daily lives. Financial knowledge is not only theoretical but also a vital tool for improving the quality of life. Therefore, the development of financial literacy remains one of the key priorities for modern youth.
