CHOOSE YOUR FUTURE: OPEN DAY AT THE FACULTY OF ORIENTAL STUDIES
On April 22, 2026, an Open Day was organized at a high level at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of 91ý Kazakh National University. The event was attended by graduating students from general education schools, gymnasiums, and lyceums of Almaty city and Almaty region, as well as specialists responsible for career guidance in schools.
The main purpose of the event was to provide applicants with comprehensive information about the faculty’s educational programs, to highlight the specific features and advantages of Oriental Studies, and to assist them in making an informed choice of their future profession.
As part of the event, an informative exhibition was organized to promote the culture and civilizations of the countries studied at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The exhibition featured national costumes, handicrafts, books, and historical and cultural materials from the Arab world, Iran, Pakistan, India, Turkey, China, Japan, and Korea. In addition, students performed songs in the languages of these countries, presented national dances, and staged theatrical performances. This allowed participants to gain a deeper appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of Eastern peoples.
In the official part of the event, the Dean of the Faculty, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Myrzakhan Sharipbayuly Egamberdiev, delivered a speech in which he provided detailed information about the history of the faculty, its academic potential, and its international collaborations. He particularly emphasized that the faculty’s educational programs are continuously updated in accordance with modern requirements, and that students have opportunities to participate in academic mobility programs and study at leading foreign universities.
In addition, department heads and the faculty’s career guidance coordinator, PhD, Associate Professor Kurmanali Chakiroglu Altynshash Arystanbekkyzy, conducted explanatory sessions for applicants on each educational program. They provided detailed information about the specifics of the academic process, foreign language proficiency requirements, professional opportunities, and the demand for graduates in the labor market. Participants were able to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers.
At the end of the event, a tour of the faculty building was organized for the guests, during which classrooms, language laboratories, and resource centers were presented.
Overall, the Open Day was an informative and engaging event that had a positive impact on helping applicants make a well-informed decision about their future profession.
