Echoes of Culture: A Dialogue of Tradition and Modernity
Doctoral students of the educational programs “8D02207 – Museum Studies and Heritage Protection” and “8D02211 – Ethnology and Anthropology” of the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Museology, Faculty of History, 91ý Kazakh National University – U. Ashimova and N. Assylbekova – held a series of significant meetings and exchanged experience during their scientific internship in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey.
During the internship, the doctoral students conducted research at Istanbul University and participated in a number of academic discussions under the supervision of renowned scholar and museologist Professor Fethiye Erbay. Meetings with the academic community focused on key issues in museum studies, ethnology, and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
As part of the internship, and in connection with the International Day for Monuments and Sites, as well as to promote traditional Kazakh culture, the doctoral students took part in the international photo exhibition “Echoes of Culture.” They introduced the people of Istanbul to the rich cultural heritage and values of the Kazakh nation. The exhibition featured both painting and photography and brought together art historians and researchers from various countries. The curators were Professor Fethiye Erbay and ethnographer Tattigul Kartaeva.
At this international platform, the doctoral students presented their works, demonstrating the connection between cultural heritage and contemporary art. The exhibition contributed to promoting Kazakh culture and ethnographic heritage at the international level and strengthening academic and cultural ties.
During the internship, the doctoral students also presented the results of their research and received professional feedback from international experts. Turkish scholars highly appreciated their work and expressed interest in future collaborative projects. This scientific internship will undoubtedly contribute to the integration of young Kazakh scholars into the global academic community and to the development of museum studies and ethnology.
