KazNU Rector meets with Cuban Ambassador
Chairman of the Board - Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba Alfredo Fidel Nieves Portuondo at the Al–Farabi Kazakh National University.
The parties discussed the development of cooperation in the field of education and science, as well as the prospects for academic exchange.

The Rector of KazNU noted that the university is the country's leading research university and is among the best universities in the world, ranking 166th in the QS WUR 2025 ranking. He stressed that the university successfully operates 16 faculties, 8 research institutes, 140 laboratories and 29 research centers.
"KazNU is open to expanding international cooperation. We are interested in developing joint educational programs and research projects with Cuban universities", said the rector.

The Cuban Ambassador, in turn, stressed his readiness to strengthen partnership and develop cooperation in the field of education and science. "Cuba is interested in expanding cooperation with KazNU, especially in the field of academic exchanges and joint research",- the diplomat said.
Separately, the parties discussed the experience of academic mobility. Earlier, a student from Cuba studied at KazNU in 2019 as part of an exchange program, which became an example of successful educational cooperation.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to consider the possibility of launching joint educational programs, developing scientific projects and expanding academic exchange.

At the end of the delegation's visit, a campus tour was organized, during which the guests got acquainted with the scientific infrastructure of the university. They visited the Earth's remote sensing center, a supercomputer cluster, and innovation labs.
