Special importance was attached to the National Book Day
The Farabi Library of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the grand opening of a week of cultural and educational events dedicated to the National Book Day and Librarian's Day.
This initiative, organized with the support of the university administration and faculties, is aimed at popularizing the culture of reading, developing the intellectual potential of young people and promoting the national spiritual heritage.
The program of the week began with an educational excursion "Rare books that hold the secrets of the ages". The participants got acquainted with the collection of the Hall of rare and valuable books and manuscripts named after Academician Absattar Derbisali. The visitors were presented with a unique collection of historical publications of high scientific and cultural significance.
In addition, a special exhibition "Forgotten valuable Books" was opened in the lobby of the library. The main purpose of the exhibition is to revive interest in meaningful and important works that eventually fell out of the field of view of modern readers, and to reintroduce them to a wide readership.
The students were particularly interested in the intellectual game "KitapQuest". During the competition, the participants were able to demonstrate logical thinking, erudition, and information retrieval skills.
A traveling exhibition "New Book – New Opportunities" will be organized at all faculties of the university. The first presentation took place at the Faculty of Journalism, where future specialists were introduced to new library collections, including modern scientific and educational literature.
It is worth noting that open lectures with the participation of teachers and experts, book presentations, as well as consultative meetings for students will continue throughout the week.
