KazNU geographers took part in the Regional Environmental Summit
Scientists from the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated in plenary and panel sessions held within the framework of the Regional Environmental Summit.
During the plenary session on the topic "Cryosphere of Central Asia: from scientific assessment to joint actions to adapt to climate change", the problems of glaciers, snow reserves and perennial marshes were considered. The scientists conducted a scientific analysis of the influence of these factors on the formation of the region's water resources. As a result of the session, national plans and a sub-regional action program aimed at strengthening regional cooperation were proposed.

Representatives of the University also participated in a panel session on the topic "Early warning system in Central Asia: from regional cooperation to a sustainable future". The issues of preventing natural disasters and improving hydrometeorological services in Central Asian countries were discussed here.

One of the key outcomes of the panel session was the signing of a joint statement by the heads of the national meteorological services of the Central Asian countries. This document is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, coordinating actions to reduce the risks of natural disasters and adapt to climate change.

During the summit, KazNU teachers and researchers exchanged international experience in the field of hydrometeorology, glaciology and climate risk management, identifying priority areas for further cooperation.
