Asian scientists discuss carbon innovation
The Second Asian Carbon Symposium (AACG), a significant international scientific event in the field of carbon materials, was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The symposium was organized with the participation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Gorenje Problems and KazNU named after al-Farabi under the auspices of the Asian Association of Carbon Groups (AACG). Leading scientists from China, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Taiwan, Russia and other countries took part in its work.

The event was opened by Alina Galeeva, Member of the Board and Vice–Rector for Academic Affairs of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. "The special significance of this event lies in the fact that for the first time in its history, the symposium is being held in the Republic of Kazakhstan, opening a new chapter for the country in international scientific cooperation in the field of advanced materials and technologies. The holding of the symposium in Almaty highlights the growing role of Kazakhstan as an important scientific center in Central Asia and strengthens the integration of national science into the global research community",- said the Vice–Rector.

The ideological inspirer and the main organizer was Professor of the Department of Chemical Physics and Materials Science of KazNU, scientific director of the Institute of Gorenje Problems of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician Zulkhair Mansurov. In his welcoming speech, the distinguished scientist emphasized: "The Asian Carbon Conference 2026 provides an international platform for discussing the latest developments in chemistry, physics, technology and applications of carbon materials. The conference covers a wide range of topics, including carbon nanoforms, graphene and related materials, graphite, diamonds, porous carbon, carbon fibers, and new hybrid materials. I am sure that the inspiring atmosphere will contribute to fruitful discussions and unforgettable impressions for all participants".

The scientific program of the symposium included plenary and sectional reports, poster sessions, covering the following areas: Carbon for Energy, Carbon for Information Technology and Carbon for the Environment.
In conclusion, the organizers emphasized that the scientific and technical community in the field of materials science and nanotechnology is actively developing new research, technologies and innovative approaches, while maintaining close international cooperation.
