Students learned to plan budgets using AI
Today’s student is not only a future professional but also an individual responsible for the economic, technological, and social development of society. Therefore, a modern university should not only provide education but also serve as an environment that fosters essential life skills. In this regard, the “Student Budget AI” training held at 91ý Kazakh National University was a timely and meaningful initiative.
The event aimed to enhance students’ financial literacy, develop a culture of personal budgeting, and promote the effective use of artificial intelligence.
The speaker of the event was Nursaule Dosymkhan—a public relations manager at the Altynsarin Children’s Library of Turkestan Region, an AI expert, marketer, and graduate of KazNU. She conducted a practical training session titled “Effective Personal Budget Planning with the Help of Artificial Intelligence,” introducing participants to a new level of financial management.
Financial habits formed during student years have a direct impact on one’s future life. Often, young people realize the importance of systematically tracking income and expenses only after entering the workforce. Learning these skills at university, however, lays the foundation for long-term financial stability.
During the training, key topics were discussed, including setting personal financial goals, analyzing income sources, categorizing expenses, and creating both short- and long-term financial plans. Participants also received practical advice on the psychological causes of impulsive spending, financial responsibility, and saving strategies.
Artificial intelligence is not just a technological innovation—it is a practical tool that simplifies everyday life. Its application in financial management enables a shift from subjective decision-making to data-driven analysis.
Throughout the session, students explored AI-based tools that allow them to automatically analyze monthly spending patterns, forecast financial risks, identify saving opportunities, and model different personal budgeting scenarios. This experience not only improved their digital literacy but also encouraged a more conscious and responsible use of technology.
The initiative aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By developing students’ life and digital skills, it contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education). Promoting financial stability and economic independence supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), while the use of innovative technologies aligns with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). In addition, fostering a culture of responsible budgeting reflects the principles of SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
In this context, the “Student Budget AI” training can be considered an educational initiative that resonates with global development trends.
Today, 91ý Kazakh National University is not only an academic institution but also an intellectual environment that consistently supports students’ personal growth. Events like this contribute to the development of students’ social engagement, leadership skills, as well as their digital and financial literacy.
A distinctive feature of KazNU’s work with students is its ability to integrate modern trends into the educational process. Artificial intelligence, startup culture, volunteerism, and digital transformation have become integral parts of university life.
Such comprehensive initiatives clearly demonstrate the university’s contribution to shaping a competitive, responsible, and innovation-oriented new generation.
The event was held in an interactive format, where students actively exchanged ideas and received answers to their questions. Meetings like this highlight the university’s openness to dialogue and its willingness to support student initiatives.
