“Taza Campus” Environmental Campaign: Tree Planting as an Investment in the Future
A university campus is not only a place for education but also a second home for students. In this regard, the “Taza Campus” environmental campaign organized at 91ý Kazakh National University brought together students and faculty members of the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, who actively participated in environmental protection and campus improvement activities.
The main objective of the campaign was to foster environmental awareness among young people, promote a caring attitude toward nature, and strengthen social responsibility.
According to faculty activists, for future IT specialists and artificial intelligence researchers, technological competence alone is not sufficient; respect for the environment must also become a core value.

“This clean-up initiative is a small contribution to our country. Technological progress should go hand in hand with environmental preservation,” the students noted.
Under the initiative of academic advisors, students of the Department of Computer Science planted trees and flower seedlings around the faculty area. Each planted tree symbolized the beginning of new life, while landscaping activities became an important step toward improving the campus ecological environment.
Planting trees and flowers is not merely beautification — it is a long-term investment in the nation’s future. Environmental quality can improve only when ecological culture becomes firmly established in society. Global experience shows that even countries with challenging natural conditions invest significant effort in greening initiatives to maintain ecological balance.

Today, Kazakhstan faces a shortage of green spaces, and the culture of tree planting has not yet fully developed. Therefore, every citizen can contribute to national development not through online discussions alone, but through real actions — planting trees, protecting nature, and maintaining environmental cleanliness.
A traditional proverb says: “A true person has three duties: to plant a tree, build a house, and raise a child”. This reflects responsibility toward future generations.
The formation of environmental awareness should become not only an individual initiative but also a shared social culture. Experts emphasize that systematic state support is essential to establish a tradition of tree planting. For example, introducing an official “Tree Planting Day” could significantly influence public attitudes toward nature.

Kazakh wisdom teaches: “Even if the end of the world comes, plant a tree,” and “Better to leave a tree than wealth” . These sayings demonstrate that caring for nature has always been a fundamental value of our people. If each person dedicates a little time to planting and nurturing even one tree, it will become a valuable gift to future generations.
The “Taza Campus” environmental campaign demonstrated that environmental culture is an integral part of the educational process while enhancing students’ civic engagement. Through this initiative, the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence promoted environmental protection and sustainable development principles within the university community.
Cleanliness and a green environment define our shared home.
Every planted tree is a symbol of responsibility for the future.
