A Regular Seminar on the Progress of Doctoral Research Held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science
The Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science organized a regular scientific seminar dedicated to discussing the progress of research work conducted by third-year doctoral students (5th–6th semesters). The event was aimed at the systematic review of interim results of dissertation research, improving the quality of scientific inquiry, enhancing the methodological level of research, and fostering the exchange of experience within the academic environment. Such academic platforms contribute to strengthening the research culture of the faculty, deepening doctoral students’ scientific thinking, developing their analytical skills, and improving the quality of academic writing.
The regular scientific seminar held on April 22 was presented by doctoral students of the educational programs “8D03104 – Political Science,” Nursulu Nurpeisova, and “8D03102 – Cultural Studies,” Zhaniya Khasiyetova. The doctoral students comprehensively presented the current stage of their dissertation research, outlining the main directions of their projects, the relevance of their topics, the object and subject of study, as well as the theoretical and methodological frameworks employed. In addition, challenges encountered during the research process and possible solutions were also discussed.
During the seminar, particular attention was paid to the scientific validity of the research methods used, their effectiveness, and their alignment with the research objectives. The results obtained were thoroughly examined in terms of their scientific novelty, theoretical significance, and practical value, as well as their potential application in science and social practice. The presentations were structured in accordance with contemporary academic standards and demonstrated theoretical depth and logical consistency. Participants highly appreciated the development potential of the doctoral research and noted the перспективность of their scientific work.
The event was attended by Ainur Karybayeva, Deputy Dean for Research, Innovation and International Relations, as well as faculty members and academic supervisors. They conducted a comprehensive expert evaluation of the presented research, offering methodologically significant comments and well-grounded academic recommendations. The discussion included meaningful exchanges on the relevance of research topics, the correctness of the methodology, the quality of data interpretation, and the validity of conclusions. Issues related to research ethics, the culture of working with sources, and the systematization of research results were also addressed.
Special emphasis during the seminar was placed on improving the methodological framework of research, the proper analysis of empirical data, and the publication of findings in international peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, topics such as the development of academic writing culture, increasing participation in scientific discourse, and integrating doctoral students into the international academic community were thoroughly discussed.
The scientific seminar made a significant contribution to the development of doctoral students’ research competencies, the improvement of their scientific projects, the formation of a culture of academic thinking, and the advancement of academic communication. Such formats of meetings strengthen the scientific potential of the faculty and play an important role in the professional development of young researchers.
As a result of the seminar, participants received specific scientific and methodological recommendations for further deepening their research, enabling them to continue their dissertation work with renewed momentum. The importance of expanding international scientific collaboration and strengthening academic networks was also emphasized, contributing to the systematic development of the faculty’s academic environment.
