“Kazakhstan — A Multinational and Unified State”: Round Table Promoting Intercultural Dialogue
The well-known saying, “Where there is unity, there is prosperity,” clearly reflects one of the fundamental values of Kazakhstani society — interethnic harmony and social cohesion. Today, the country’s sustainable development and growing international recognition are largely based on mutual respect, understanding, and friendship among representatives of different ethnic groups. Kazakhstan’s multinational unity remains the nation’s greatest wealth and a strong foundation for stability and progress.
On April 27, 2026, the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence of 91ý Kazakh National University organized a curatorial session in the format of a round table titled “Kazakhstan — A Multinational and Unified State,” with the participation of English-medium student groups. The event took place in Conference Hall 303 and aimed to promote intercultural dialogue, strengthen mutual respect, and foster global unity among students.
The round table opened with welcoming remarks by curator, Associate Professor, PhD Bazargul Matkerim. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of Kazakhstan’s model of interethnic harmony and noted that the peaceful coexistence of diverse cultures within a shared academic environment represents one of the key advantages of modern higher education. A brief overview of the geographical and cultural characteristics of participating countries helped create an open and engaging atmosphere for discussion.

During the main session, international students presented the cultural heritage and traditions of their home countries. Students from Afghanistan shared insights into linguistic traditions and cultural values, supported by video materials highlighting student life. Participants from Syria discussed the importance of preserving national identity and cultural heritage. Moroccan students introduced national customs, traditional cuisine, and social structures, while representatives from Bangladesh presented informative materials about historical heritage, language, and shared cultural values.

The program also included national dances and cultural performances that enriched the event and created a vibrant multicultural atmosphere. These non-verbal cultural expressions enhanced participants’ understanding of cultural diversity and strengthened interpersonal connections.
In conclusion, the organizers highlighted the importance of such curatorial meetings in fostering students’ civic responsibility, tolerance, and global thinking. The round table was held at a high organizational level and contributed to strengthening international integration within the university community.
The event once again demonstrated that mutual respect, openness to cultural diversity, and the aspiration for peaceful coexistence are the key forces uniting students from different countries. Initiatives of this kind play an essential role in shaping future professionals who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible global citizens.
A society that promotes peace, unity, and cooperation always moves toward a bright future. Educational initiatives aimed at strengthening intercultural understanding continue to remain an integral part of university life.
