On April 21, 2026, an event aimed at enhancing the professional competencies of future specialists was organized at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of 91ý Kazakh National University by the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis, and Petrochemistry. The event was conducted as part of a teaching practicum.

The open session was prepared and delivered by first-year master’s students of the educational program “7M07101 – Petrochemistry”: R. Aitbaeva, M. Shaukybaev, and K. Abukhan. The event was attended by students of the programs “6B07104 – Chemical Technology of Organic Substances” and “6B05301 – Chemistry,” as well as faculty members and guests interested in the topic.

During the session, the master’s students examined the significance of petrochemistry in modern industry, its role in everyday life, as well as the key environmental challenges of the sector and ways to address them. Particular attention was paid to the concept of green chemistry, sustainable technologies, and issues of environmental safety. In addition, special emphasis was placed on the role of future engineers and their responsibility in reducing harmful emissions, developing environmentally friendly technologies, and ensuring the sustainable development of the industry.

“Today, an engineer is not only a technical specialist but, above all, a guarantor of environmental safety. Our goal is to maintain a balance between industry and nature,” the master’s students noted in their presentations.

The theoretical material was complemented by modern interactive presentations, practical case studies, and conducted in an open discussion format.

The supervisor of the teaching practicum is Azhigulova Ryskul Ninilovna, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis, and Petrochemistry
