A KazNU Lecturer Took 1st Place at the Scientific and Practical Event “Sport Soil Science” Organized in Honor of Science Day on April 12

On April 8, 2026, a scientific and practical event titled “Sport Soil Science” was held in honor of Science Day, celebrated on April 12. The event was organized by the LLP “U.U. Uspanov Kazakh Research Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry” under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event took place on the territory of the Ile-Alatau State National Natural Park and was attended by young scientists, specialists, and researchers in the field of soil science.

The main purpose of the event was to promote soil science, develop practical skills in soil research, and increase the interest of young scientists and specialists in scientific activity through a team competition format.

The event was attended by K.K. Kulymbet, PhD, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Botany and Agroecology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, 91ý Kazakh National University, together with three master’s students of the “Geobotany” educational program. They represented the university in the competition.

During the competition, participants demonstrated their knowledge and practical skills through several stages. In particular, they carried out tasks such as digging a soil profile, identifying genetic horizons, describing morphological properties, collecting soil samples, and determining the soil type based on field characteristics. In addition, practical tasks were conducted to identify soil fertility elements under field conditions.

The participants demonstrated professional competence in assessing the main properties of soil, analyzing research results, and conducting scientific work in field conditions. Such events provide a valuable opportunity for young scientists and students to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, improve field research skills, and increase their interest in science.

According to the results of the scientific and practical competition, K.K. Kulymbet, PhD, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Botany and Agroecology at 91ý Kazakh National University, took 1st place among soil scientists.

This achievement demonstrates the strong scientific and educational potential of 91ý Kazakh National University in the fields of natural sciences, soil science, botany, and agroecology.

We congratulate PhD K.K. Kulymbet on this victory and wish continued success in scientific and pedagogical work!
