KazNU students became winners of the republican competition
Students of the Faculty of Law of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University won first place in the republican Amicus Curiae Challenge, which was held among higher educational institutions. The intellectual competition was organized by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The team consisted of 3rd year students: Dameli Toksanbayeva, Meruert Khamitova and Zhanmukhamed Ablazimov. Future lawyers were prepared for the competition by teachers of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law – Professor Alua Ibraeva, Head of the Department Karlygash Useynova and assistant Professor Dinara Tursunkulova.
The main goal of the competition is to strengthen the rule of law and enhance the legal culture of young people. The participants demonstrated the skills of legal analysis, argumentation of their position and study of the practice of constitutional court proceedings.
The competition consisted of two stages. At the first stage, the teams analyzed complex legal issues and prepared written opinions in the "Amicus Curiae" ("Friend of the Court") format. Of the 17 teams representing different regions of Kazakhstan, three KazNU teams reached the finals at once, having distinguished themselves with their creative videos. At the final stage, the participants defended their arguments before the expert commission, showing high oratorical skills.
The victory of the KazNU students confirmed their deep knowledge in the field of human rights and freedoms protection.
