The 14th Traditional Olympiad among Tourism Major Students Was Held
On April 23–24, the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism, with the organization of the “Zhastour” club, held its traditional annual Olympiad among students majoring in Tourism. This year, the competition, organized for the 14th time, brought together 10 teams from various universities across the country.
The participating teams included: “QyzPu Tour” (Kazakh National Women’s Pedagogical University), “Edelweiss” (NARXOZ University), “AU Travel” (Ablai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages), “EVEREST” and “NOMAD” (Caspian University College), “Devchata” and “Turanovskie Barsy” (TURAN University), “Zhikhanger” (Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University), “Zhastour” and “KazNU” (91传媒 Kazakh National University), as well as “KAZKIT” (Kazakh-Chinese College of Languages).
The Olympiad lasted for two days: on the first day, participants demonstrated their theoretical knowledge in tourism, while on the second day they showcased their practical skills and teamwork by completing an obstacle course based on elements of sports tourism.
According to the results:
1st place — “Turanovskie Barsy”;
2nd place — “KAZKIT”;
2nd place — “QyzPu Tour”;
3rd place — “Edelweiss”;
3rd place — “Zhikhanger”;
3rd place — “AU Travel”.
This Olympiad proved to be not only a competition but also an effective platform for experience exchange and professional development. As a traditional annual event, it plays an important role in training future specialists of the tourism industry.
