A Step Toward the Future: Career Guidance in Cybersecurity for High School Students
At secondary school No. 82 in Almaty, master's students Baimenov Zhassulan and Issina Zhuldyz from the Department of Cybersecurity and Cryptology at 91ý Kazakh National University conducted a career guidance event. The event was organized at a high level under the leadership of the department's head and responsible organizer for career guidance, Zamanova Saule Kanabekovna, and was designed for students in grades 11. Planned under the direct coordination of Zamanova Saule Kanabekovna, the event aimed to introduce students to the relevance, prospects, and educational opportunities in the field of cybersecurity. The master's students presented in a clear and engaging manner the importance of information security in today's digital age, types of cyberattacks, the fundamentals of cryptography, and practical methods for protecting personal data. Detailed information was also provided about the bachelor's and master's programs of the Department of Cybersecurity and Cryptology at KazNU, the specifics of the academic process, research directions, and the demand for graduates in the job market. Students actively participated in the event, asking numerous questions about ethical hacking, the connection between artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and the choice of a future career. The event sparked genuine interest in cybersecurity as a profession and had a positive impact on the students' future career considerations. Baimenov Zhassulan and Issina Zhuldyz emphasized the importance of this initiative in guiding young people toward science and technology, expressed their gratitude for the organizational support of Zamanova Saule Kanabekovna, and conveyed their commitment to continuing such career guidance activities on a regular basis.
