On the occasion of the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan, celebrated on May 1, a curatorial educational session titled “Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan – An Institution of Unity” was held at the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence of 91ý Kazakh National University. The event was organized for first-year students of the Computer Engineering and Computer Science programs studying in an English-medium group composed of international students.

The main objective of the session was to introduce students to the role and significance of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan in society, promote the values of peace and interethnic harmony in a multinational state, and foster intercultural dialogue among students. During the event, participants were provided with comprehensive information about the activities of the university’s Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan Center.

The Center serves as an important institutional platform aimed at strengthening interethnic harmony and cultivating a culture of tolerance within the university’s multicultural academic environment. Its primary mission is to familiarize students with Kazakhstan’s ethnic and cultural diversity, enhance interethnic relations, and promote mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation among representatives of different nationalities. Furthermore, the Center contributes to broadening students’ global outlook through intercultural communication and the promotion of national unity values.

During the session, the curator introduced students to the history of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, its contribution to maintaining social stability, and the distinctive features of Kazakhstan’s model of interethnic harmony. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of unity among students coming from different countries yet studying together within one academic community.

The main part of the meeting focused on introducing Kazakh national traditions and customs. Cultural values such as hospitality, respect for elders, solidarity, and mutual support were discussed, highlighting their educational and social significance. Kazakh traditions were compared with the cultural practices of other nations, allowing participants to identify similarities and shared universal values.

International students actively participated in discussions, shared their impressions, and emphasized Kazakhstan’s multicultural identity. They noted the country’s hospitality, peaceful environment, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to study in a nation characterized by stability, respect, and mutual understanding.

In conclusion, it was highlighted that such educational meetings play an important role in students’ social adaptation, the development of intercultural understanding, and the strengthening of international student cooperation. The curatorial session was held at a high organizational level and became an effective platform for promoting unity, tolerance, and mutual respect among students.
