KazNU is leading in the implementation of the AI-Sana project

A series of seminars dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Kazakhstan was held at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was held within the framework of the AI-Sana program with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC Science Foundation and ZEMEX Inc. The partners of the initiative were Platonus LLP and the "Қазақстан халқына" Public Foundation.

 

The main goal of the program is to train interdisciplinary specialists capable of implementing AI in medicine, engineering and other critical sectors of the economy. The key speaker of the meetings was Paul Kim the developer of the stages of the AI-Sana program, Chairman of the International Expert Council at the World Bank and a member of the National AI Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Elena Sedykh, Strategic Director of Zemex Inc., also participated in the seminars.

Opening the event, Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board and ViceRector for Research and Innovation at KazNU, emphasized the university's leadership in digital transformation. "KazNU took the first place in the country according to the results of the AI-Sana program more than 7,500 university students participated and were selected. This means that our students are already gaining real skills in working with AI technologies. The university creates all conditions so that you can not just acquire knowledge, but apply it in practice",- said the Vice–rector, addressing students at the Farabi Scientific Library.

The student section of the seminar was devoted to AI economics and startup thinking. The Vice-Rector stressed that the university has a modern infrastructure for conducting scientific research. It includes high-tech laboratories, innovation centers and computing resources, which creates conditions for the implementation of complex scientific projects.

Special attention was paid to the training of mentors. The SMILE methodology and principles of AI coaching were discussed at the workshop for curators. Welcoming the teachers, Margulan Ibraimov emphasized the strategic importance of their work: "Today, artificial intelligence is becoming not just a technology, but the basic infrastructure of the modern economy. In this regard, KazNU is systematically developing digital directions. The participation of international experts gives our meeting a special significance and practical focus".

A series of seminars have been held aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Kazakhstan's education system and training new generation specialists.
